Regents Name Facilities at Bush School and A&M-Texarkana

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M University System Regents voted today to recognize the extraordinary contributions of three individuals by naming facilities in their honor.
“Having something at A&M carry your family name is perhaps one of the greatest honors any Aggie can achieve, regardless of whatever else they may have accomplished in life,” Chancellor John Sharp said. “This recognition means more than most because it reflects a lifetime lived by Aggie core values, and not just personal achievements.”
Regent Robert L. Albritton of Fort Worth was honored with a vote to rename the Center for Grand Strategy in the Bush School of Government & Public Service to The Albritton Center for Grand Strategy. He contributed $2.75 million toward the new center.
Albritton earned a double major in Economics and Marketing in 1971 from Texas A&M University before his commission in the U.S. Air Force. Following his service, Albritton formed Albritton Development Company, which became the holding company for various interests that stretched from merchant banking, natural gas transmission and processing, oil and gas development and real estate development. In 1994, Albritton started Railroad Controls Limited, which became the largest privately owned railroad signaling and communications company in America. Albritton was appointed to the Board of Regents by Gov. Greg Abbott in 2015.
Texarkana’s Robert N. Buck was honored by A&M System Regents, who voted to rename the Red River Federal Credit Union Activities Game Room at Texas A&M University-Texarkana to the Robert N. Buck Game Room Given by: Red River Credit Union, upon its relocation to the Patterson Student Center. Buck, a Texas A&M-Texarkana Distinguished Alumnus recipient in 2004, was the former President and CEO of the Red River Credit Union, which donated $100,000 in 2012 to create the game room.
Texarkana resident and Texas A&M System Regent Emerita Judy Kelley Morgan was also recognized by A&M System Regents, who voted to name the soccer field at Texas A&M University-Texarkana the Morgan Soccer Field in her honor. Morgan was instrumental in creating Women for A&M-Texarkana, which has raised more than $1 million to support scholarships and new programs.
